Our clubs are all about encouraging healthy minds and bodies and socializing with other retirees in the community.

Clubs provide a wealth of new experiences and a much-expanded social network. The opportunities abound in each club with awesome guest speakers, a broad range of interesting activities and social events, stimulating conversation and the chance to explore our community, Canada and the world with new friends.

The focus of my role as Communications Coordinator for Applewood is to keep our (155) members informed and connected to other members through eNewsletters, club emails, Zoom meetings and a club website. My background in technology, sales & marketing has enabled me to make a contribution to our members.

The role of Vice President was multi-faceted including filling backup duty when the President was away or unavailable; identifying, inviting and coordinating weekly guest speakers; club website management and new member growth. As with all Rotary board positions, this role was voluntary. I was scheduled to assume the role of President in 2013 but declined to do so because of my real estate responsibilities.

The club continued to meet weekly in the Yorkville area of Toronto.

I gradually added additional content and the site became a growing source of information on local, upcoming cultural events. The site has since been archived. Portions of it may be posted on Social Media platforms in the future.

    Score: 100%

This five-day OREA course is applicable during the articling segment for new agents or as an optional pre-requisite for the Broker's Course. Since a Broker's licence is one of my objectives for 2016, this course was a good fit. Even after thireen years of experience, there was a great deal of relevant, useful content in the course.
